Things to do in the area
(click on the titles for link to websites)

For all of the Miami dining within 15 minutes to The Sonesta Bayfront Hotel Coconut Grove.

Built by agricultural industrialist James Deering in 1916, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens features a Main House, ten acres of formal gardens, and a rockland hammock (native forest).

Behind the natural beauty of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden lies a carefully
orchestrated blend of science and art.

Matheson Hammock

It's a great beach for those who simply enjoy a peaceful beach experience. Matheson Hammock Park is a lovely scenic park with an unusual feature--a man-made atoll pool, which is flushed naturally with the tidal action of nearby Biscayne Bay. Its tranquil breeze-swept beach is a haven for families who enjoy its warm, safe waters and beautiful waterside views. Matheson is also a prime spot for Kite-Boarding. Rentals available on site. Its active breezes and calm shallow waters make launching easy.

The main house is Miami-Dade County’s oldest house still situated in its original location, and the tropical hardwood hammock is one of the last examples left of Miami’s original landscape.

Key Biscayne
Beaches, Seaquarium, Golf, Crandon Park and Historic Lighthouse.

Jungle Island

Jungle Island, combines the beauty of Miami’s tropical landscape with a jungle full of extraordinary animals from around the globe. Building upon its rich 75-year history, today’s Jungle Island is a contemporary theme park, featuring extremely rare twin orangutans, the world’s largest cat, and over 300 vibrant birds, including the world’s only trained Cassowary.
South Beach draws in the rich, famous and trendy. Nightlife abounds, but South Beach is also a historic district, a people-watching haven and a beach-lover's dream.

Deering Estate at Cutler is an environmental, archaeological and historical preserve. From canoe tours to butterfly walks and guided nature hikes, the Deering Estate has diverse activities for the whole family to enjoy.
CocoWalk, Miami’s multicultural marketplace, is a premier open-air shopping, dining, and entertainment destination. Its distinctive design is created to blend seamlessly with historic Coconut Grove.  The Bayside village known for being eclectic, eccentric, and always exciting.
The Falls is one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the US, featuring Bloomingdale's, Macy's, more than 100 stores, restaurants and cafés.
The largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, boasts rare and endangered species. It has been designated a World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, and Wetland of International Importance, significant to all people of the world.
